Entrepreneurs need Valentine’s too!
Today is Valentine’s Day in the United States. A day spent giving cards, candy, flowers and other tokens of love to those you care about.
All entrepreneurs need a support system of people. People who can share the ups and downs, give feedback, listen, understand your passion.
Start with someone who is closest to you: a spouse, parent, sibling or someone significant who can share your experiences. These people are as invested in your happiness in your career as you are!
They can provide advice on new ideas, or just be a cheerleader in this new endeavor. Whatever you need, having another person in your corner is essential.
Not everyone has a supportive family or friends to turn to in which case it is helpful to turn to others outside your immediate circle. Support groups help with the feeling of isolation and you can make connections with people who are facing comparable challenges.
Find MeetUps, Facebook groups, career change groups…
…there are a multitude of options to find people who are going through the same situations you are. The key is to search out people with similar problems and share advice.
Mentors are another huge aspect of entrepreneurship. They can guide you through the maze of starting a new business with their experiences; learn what pitfalls to watch for, how to connect your vision with actions that are productive, offer a network within your industry.
On this Valentine’s Day, it is important to reach out to those who can help you and guide you in your business. It is not a journey to go alone but one that should be celebrated with others who will support you.
