Real Estate Developer
At the age of 55, Taikichiro Mori changed professions from an economics professor to real estate developer.
He was named Forbes richest man in the world in 1991 and 1992.
Mr. Mori saw an opening in Tokyo’s real estate market and had a long-range vision for how neighborhoods could be developed.
He was thoughtful and humble, thankful for his opportunity and good fortune. Quoted once as saying “I find it just a little odd” about his international status of being a billionaire.
Looking at these traits, what can we learn?
Long-range vision is important…as an entrepreneur we need to know where we want to go and have a long term plan to get there.
It may not be fast, but over time and with preparation, we can build anything.
I have heard many times that people who acquire great wealth are self-effacing, modest and humble.
I wonder if it is because they are so focused on the process, on their work and the rest is just icing on the cake of what they do?
As I delve more into the characteristics of these people who changed careers later in life, I hope to understand my need to find a different career path and traits that will enable me to become the best.
