Start Where You Stand, Work With Your Tools

“Do not wait; the time will never be ‘just right’. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.”

     -Napoleon Hill

After 11 months working on my online marketing business, I really understand this quote. There are so many things that normally, I would have waited to start…

…my blog, my web site, changing careers.

I easily could be doing the same job (which I am but much less), the same activities, the same thoughts, the same bored feelings.

Instead I feel like I have a new lease on my career and life. I have a future that I am in control of, and learning things that I am excited about.

The timing was not perfect. I didn’t have the money set aside to start my own business but I am figuring it out.

I definitely have better tools that I am working with, each day I am learning more and realizing that I can really do this! Each new task I accomplish, I feel more empowered. At 60, I have changed my life and career. It feels amazing to be happy again.

I sure didn’t feel that way when I started. Everything seemed daunting. Everything seemed hard and over my head. Many days I was ready to quit but I am nothing if not proud and bull-headed! Not growing up with computers and the technology, many aspects truly baffled me.

I tried developing a web site on my own, only to realized months later, looked like a kindergartner had made. How unprofessional is that?!

Didn’t understand funnels, or that they are considered web sites. Didn’t understand tracking, Google analytics, Facebook ads…

…so many aspects of online marketing were like speaking in tongues.

But with determination, webinars and the wealth of information online, I have come out of a dense forest and am in a small clearing!

My website (megbatson.com) looks professional, I set up Google Analytics and the search console on my own. Plus last week, I built my first funnel!

And it is exciting!

Even though nothing was “just right”, I started.

I am so glad I did. I couldn’t be happier with what I am accomplishing.

Are you there yet? Are you ready to start from where you stand?

Promise, it is the best feeling in the world.
